Privacy.

Last updated: September 2026

Fio is a small app built for two people to feel close across distance. Everything you put here is private to the two of you. This page tells you exactly what we collect, why, and how you can get it back or delete it.

Who we are

Fio is operated by an individual developer based in France. Contact for privacy matters: hello@fio.social.

What we store

  • Your email address — so we can send you a sign-in link.
  • Your display name, city, timezone, avatar emoji, nickname you use for your partner — voluntary, so Fio can greet you.
  • Your calendar feed URL — optional, only when you paste one, so Fio can overlay events.
  • Your pair code and couple link — so only your partner can see your side of Fio.
  • Messages, thoughts, photos, statuses, journal entries and places you save — the content you and your partner create inside Fio.
  • Session cookies — strictly necessary to keep you signed in.
  • Anonymous page-view counts via Vercel Analytics — cookieless, no personal identifiers.

Why we store it

Your data is stored to make the app work — nothing else. We don't sell it, don't feed it to advertisers, don't train AI on it. Legal basis under GDPR is performance of the contract you enter with us by signing up, and legitimate interest for the analytics.

Where it lives

Data is stored on Supabase servers (EU region). Emails are delivered by Resend. The app is hosted on Vercel. All three are third-party processors under GDPR.

Photos are stored privately in Supabase Storage. Only accounts paired with you can read them.

Who else sees your content

Your partner. That's it. Fio is designed as a two-person space. No employees, moderators, or third parties read your messages, look at your photos, or scan your journal. If we ever needed to change that — for example, for a legal request or a security investigation — we would ask you first.

How long we keep it

Everything stays until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your profile, your side of the couple link, and any content only you uploaded. If you unpair, the couple and its shared content are deleted.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can:

  • Ask what we hold about you (access)
  • Ask us to fix it (rectification)
  • Ask us to delete it (erasure)
  • Ask for a copy in a portable format (portability)
  • Object to processing (objection)
  • Complain to your national data protection authority (in France, CNIL)

Email hello@fio.social and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we'll let you know via the app and via email.

This document is provided as a starting point. If you are a lawyer noticing a gap, please tell us.
